What is love!!!!!!

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 12:08 am

There will soon be a post on the following song!!!!! But before that i have to understand what love means:
This one is by Haddaway What is love?:

What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more
Oh, baby don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

What is love
Yeah

Oh, I don’t know why you’re not there
I give you my love,
but you don’t care
So what is right and what is wrong
Gimme a sign

What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

Oh, I don’t know, what can I do
What else can I say, it’s up to
you
I know we’re one, just me and you
I can’t go on

What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more
What is love
Oh
baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

What is love
Oh baby,
don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

Don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me

I want no other, no other lover
This is our life, our time
When
we are together, I need you forever
Is it love

What is love
Oh
baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby,
don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don’t hurt me
Don’t hurt me no more

What is love?

To all the girls i have loved before(Updated)

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 12:19 am

Dedicated to you is the pink floyd song Coming Back To Life:

Where were you when I was burned and broken
While the days slipped by from my window watching
Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else’s words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun

Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime

I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life

I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight..into the shining sun

Update: This is not a song for the pain and the suffering that i went through when i broke up. the words that motivate me are four lines

I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life

and

I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight..into the shining sun

The last line is what touches me the most. Breaking up is usually one of the most dark times of ones life. I did exactly what the last line says… headed straight into the shining sun.

Most of what i learnt in my life is from my crushes and my broken affairs. They did not personally teach me anything, but I learnt the passive and latent lessons that were becoming apparent to me in those turbulent times.

I learnt the lessons from the break up. I stood up. Looked at the bright sunny side of life… and just walked straight into it!!!!!!

The affairs broke me.. they tore down my heart… but I grew with them… it made me what I am

Free Satisfaction — A Rich Man’s Secret

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 6:03 am

The title is what I saw at the USC campus advertisement for some gift shop.

I was just pondering over Morhia’s(sandeep’s) frustrated post about doing what he wanted to do with life.

Is free satisfaction worth it… or rather does something called free satisfaction exist?

These are questions to my mind. If satisfaction was free then we would not find so many people desperately trying to find satisfaction in so may ashrams, organizations and all the places. It means that satisfaction is surely hard to find.

Is satisfaction sooo hard to find? Is happiness impossible in life?

Here is Paulo Coehlo:

“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dream.”

“Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worse kind of suffering.”

That holds the secret to your happiness… satisfaction comes when u do what u want to do. But before that u should know what would make u happy, for that u should wait. For some people this takes a lifetime. Some people wait. Some forget what they were supposed to do.

there is one thing that we Indians lack when we find something that we love to do. For that i would add one more quote

Here is Laks:

“Its ok to wait for a lifetime to know what u want to do. The suffering till that point of time can be considered to be the price that you pay for finding your happiness. That is not suffering. The worst kind of suffering that a thinking human can endure is not being able to do what he wants to do in his life, when he knows precisely what he should be doing. Such a human being lacks integrity or lacks the tools to act.”

We need not go to any ashram, or saint or sadhu for happiness.

It is within you, the power, to build yourself as the greatest in whatever you are doing. By greatest i meant that deriving the most amount of happiness out of what u are doing. If u do so, then no matter what others think of you, no matter whether u are socially rich or poor, you are the greatest person in the world and u are the richest.

If u can be the richest and the greatest by just finding the satisfaction and happiness in what u do, then what is satisfaction worth? Should it come free? I would say that it would be valued more than all the wealth u can ever imagine to possess. It is the thing that will make u the richest man, Not the richest man in the world.. the richest man within u. The best of what u can become.

The worlds greatest architect Frank Lloyd Wright once said:

Freedom is from within.

I add:

So is happiness

Following your dreams is the most sacred of a pilgrimage you can do. It is the definition of purity, and a key to eternal richness. It is the most orgasmic of all hapiness u can get in your life.

The road may never be easy, but certainly it will make u what u are. So is it worth it? Or do you want to ‘be happy’ by earning as much money u want and be rich infront of others?

You choose!!!!

Indians and Chineese

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 2:16 am

I have made one chineese friend and i know a a few (50) indian dudes and gals here……….and this is the observation that i have made about them especially in the graduate study advice meeting.

these are the questions raised by Indians and Chineese respectively.

Indian: Seniors have adviced me that communication is difficult. Could you please tell me the courses that are easy and that would fetch me an easy job somewhere. I am prepared to take any course in the huge EE area.

Advicer(Very Very Serious): Please take the following courses.Blah Blah Blah……..

Chineese: I want to do something in communication and i would like some help in selecting which courses i should take. I would want to take course A and course B together How would it support my further studies and how would it make me good at communication engineering area.

Advicer(Happily) : Well, Son you have come to the right university. I would like you to concentrate on the following areas where Prof:X and Y work. They have done some amount of impressive work in their area and they are looking forward for a graduate student to assist them. YOu might as well take their courses and ace in them and get the assistantship position…. the courses you should take are….. blah blah blah…… And finally best of luck.

You get the whole idea, right!!!!!!

Indians are looked down upon as freaks and nerds in this place. And the only people responsible for it are us indians. We care only about how to make cheap money and are prepared to give up our integrity in return of some amount of money… this is a kind of prostitution. I feel bad when an American just looks at me and then looks down and smiles, eventhough trying hard to control it. There is no respect for Indians. We are considered to be cheap because we are prepared to sell ourselves… at ANY cost. Nothing that the americans do is racist…. Indians deserve to be treated cheaply.

There are two big foot-ball field here… a 10000 square feet gym, four olympic size swimming pool, two olympic style diving pool. one athletic stadium and 1800 Indians, Yet how many Indians do we see in these places::: 0. Everyone is after getting A grade and getting a 4.0 GPA.

But here is the fact: I happened to talk to a boozed chineese…. he was enjoying the party…. totally boozed…. he was well built and i guess was in the USC swimming team… he was in the CS department… and guess his GPA:4.0…. Indians SUCK!!!!!

Same reason is the cause for seeing so many chineese hanging out with Americans… but u rarely find an Indian hanging out with an American…. its something awkard for an Indian to hang out with an American….

Consider anoter stupid Indians statement I heard the other day:-

Desi(Indian) :” I like robotics, but there is no Industry demand for Robotics so i have decided to shift into communication.”

Me: “Dude, do what you like to do… don’t care about what the industry is. If there is no market then create it for yourself. That is how companys like Oracle and IBM came up… at that time nothing in comps was at demand…. but there were some people who took the risk and then went ahead to reach the stars… do what u like to do… don’t be cheap and compromising.”

Desi : “But… But….Blah blah……” [ I stopped hearing and responding futher]

this is the attitude that has destroyed India Economically. It is simple to see why.

Any major industry has to have someone who took the risk… Industry is like a machine… but with a slight unpredictability involved. You feed the resource into it, and the risk involved into it and then you get the output… the bigger the industry is the bigger is the risk and the greater the returns… it is this fact that makes and breaks big companies…. and also such thing has assured returns when u have found something of pioneering value in some new area… before your innovation the area might not be in “demand” but then u have to take some risk with your time and invest it into studying into that area and then come up with some pioneering thing in that area… and then if possible build a company out of it. Such a company has a BIG possibility of getting big… in the sense that if the product succeeds socially then the industry is BIG then and there itself.

If all Indian idiots choose to do the STUFF WHICH IS EASY AND IS IN DEMAND THEN HOW THE FUCK WILL INDIA EVER HAVE SOME PIONEERING COMPANY LIKE IBM or MICROSOFT….

Indians SUCK!!!!!! and unless we change ourselves.. India will remain the same… development of the nation depends upon the development of its people…. culturaly…and in attitude… once the attitude develops; the culture develops… once the culture develops organizations develop….and in turn the whole economy develops…. thats what happens in china… and believe me china is going to go FAR FAR ahead of india… we don’t even have a chance in the next 100 years.

American culture is simple great… no doubt about it…and the place it has gained itself in this world… it deserves it 100%

A Place called home

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 5:29 pm

I just quit my job in my ex-organization SoCrates Software India Pvt. Ltd. I however was never able to post my “Its my last day in this organization” kinda mail, because the quitting happened in the most awkwardly un-professional manner with me literally tearing down my PM’s guts infront of the company president. Well I wished to breathe for sometime and then post the last mail. But then I could not just find time for it. So here is what i had in mind to write in that mail .

Dear Comrades,

Life, tritely speaking, could be considered like a car travelling on a
road. I would contort the definition a bit and say that life could be certainly
considered as a car travelling on a road, but the aim of life then is not
to find a destination but to make the travel the most interesting as one
could make. Such a change is necessary in definition is necessary, because a
journey on a road stops when one reaches the intended destination, which would
then be translated into something like “once your goal is reached you are
supposed to die” kinda thing. Such a thing would not be fair, because
ultimately when one figures out what the purpose of one’s life is; then he/she
needs some time to enjoy and appreciate the unlimited happiness that he would
obtain from that realization.

A road, as we all would know, has potholes and so does life. There
would not be a road without a pothole, no road is perfect. However there will be
some road that would be just like something you wanted to travel. There will be
some road which you just love riding on, and fighting against the
potholes, the wind and sun. That will never be a perfect road, but it will be
the road perfect for you. The destination where the road is headed to, doesn’t
matter anymore. When you find some road like the one I describe, then there will
be only one thing that concerns you, travelling on the road. Nothing else
matters. Such a road will not be perfect, it may be rough and mortal.

A rough road is dangerous, it can make your car to wreck and kill you, to
save yourself, you may be have to take an unimportant side-road of the path you
chose to take. It may be sometimes a loosing battle that you are fighting, but
still you will be loving the whole journey, because whatever you do has a
purpose and that purpose is to remain happy. Integrity is driving the car on the
road you choose no matter however rough and dangerous the path is. Happiness is
not present in remaining safe, its in choosing what you want to do. Happiness
lies not in being scared to choose, but in the hope that you can choose to
do what makes you happy. If u ever find such a road then you would not feel
like moving away from it. Then I would say that you have reached home.

Life is treacherous. You may find that the roads that almost everyone seems
to take are almost perfect, they don’t have any potholes. The only loophole that
they have it that the roads go round and round and round, and then you get
bored, unhappy and frustrated. You will become desperate to find meaning, to
make sense from the nonsense that you are doing, even if the nonsense gives you
a lot of money.

Its ok to get tricked by life once in a while. Its important that you
realize that you have been tricked by life. This is the small step. The big step
is then to change the road. From a road that everyone is following, to some road
on which travelling gives u happiness, even if it is the roughest. You may have
to say goodbye to your fellow comrades on the same road, which may be painful.
Even more painful shall be leaving the comforts of the ’safe’ and ‘perfect’ road
and then driving on to a road filled with potholes and problems. .

I realized I was tricked when I was 21, and now I have changed the
road. I am now into some road, which is perfect for me. I am ready to fight the
battles. I am ready with the armour of happiness. I am ready to live
again.

And then its time to say goodbye to all of you who were my comrades. For
the time has come for me to change the lane. Time has come for me to live.
Goodbye. I am leaving to my home.

I hope that you keep travelling in the path which gives you the most amount
of happiness, regardless of the consequences. Then you shall find your
home.

When you find such a place, do send me an email or give me a call. We shall
then have a party, to celebrate the living. We shall then be one with the path
which we are travelling. We shall then reach a place called home.

I end with my most favoured quote from the book: Rita Hayworth and the
Shawshank redemption.

“Sure I remember the name. Zihuatanejo. A name like that is just too pretty
to forget.
I find I am excited, so excited I can hardly hold the pencil in
my trembling hand. I think it is the excitement that only a free man can feel, a
free man starting a long journey whose conclusion in uncertain.
I hope Andy
is down there.
I hope I can make it across the border.
I hope to see my
friend and shake his hand.
I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in
my dreams.
I hope. ”

Lessons from Singapore Airport

Filed under: Ancient Mmusings! — laks @ 6:57 am

Economics should be the product of emotions and beliefs, not vice versa.

In a developed economy we see the above phenomenon.

In an underdeveloped economy the micro-economics is the cause of emotions, and micro-economics is on the average the indication of the whole economic state of the place.

The development of the economy can be there-fore measured in terms of how much economics drive emotions and how much emotions drive economics. (I am ignoring the islamic economy here….. will post on that later)

So there is a simple way to develop your micro-economics. Produce what you love to produce… and sell it. U will be a part of the economy that develops and gives form to the new economy. The best example is Infosys….. and the way it started. (Even though they are not much worth other than a simple service company.)
